This scripture cannot be ignored or reasoned away. This has become a controversial statement in todays evangelical realms, but I think the problem is the understandable ignorance of most people who claim to be a Christian. It is not necessarily their fault for being ignorant but the ministry and ministers not having a real understanding of the Word of God then how can they teach the children?
The Bible speaks the parents having eaten sour grapes (the ministry) then the children's teeth are on edge (church members). It is because they do not understand, plain and simple.
Sin is not the deeds and acts a person does in life. Those are the "attributes" of sin, those are the "fruit" of sin, but not the root of what sin is. Jesus made this so plain by showing that "Adultery" was not the act as to the evil, but He magnified it to show us the root of Adultery which was the "Heart"! He was saying in essence, Folks it is not about your deeds of do's and don't's, it has never been about that or else by turning and doing good deeds you would be able to make it in to heaven. If your works cannot save you in that I came and died for you while you was "yet in your sins" then it is for sure your works afterwards have no influence on my Love for you!
Sin was never about the deeds it was about what caused the deeds of evil to be done. So what caused the evil deeds to be done? It was a condition or a state of your mind, your being, your soul. because of the fall in the garden then in Adam all sin, because Satan had overtaken the mind and soul of Eve and brought about a state of "Unbelief" within her. When she doubted the Word of God that told her if she ate of the tree, she would surely die, she leaned to the the word of Satan and no longer God and showed her faith in reverse, which is unbelief, by partaking of the fruit of the tree. Now being she is the Mother of all living then we all have sinned in the sense that that same nature and character of "unbelief" has passed to every single human being ever born with the exception of Jesus Christ. So Sin is this one thing, it is "Unbelief", it is a state of misplaced faith in that God is strengthened by faith in Him so Satan is strengthened by our unbelief which is faith in reverse. So the root of all evil deeds is a state of unbelief in God's Holy Word and God is the Word so this is why he cannot look upon Sin, for how can Faith look upon Unbelief? How can Light ever see darkness when where ever it looks the darkness dissipates. Wisdom upon appearing causes Ignorance to be eradicated. God is so powerful that had he not allowed a veil to drop down between you and Him that His very presence would destroy a creature of unbelief.
So we see in Christ that he never ever doubted God one single time in His whole life. His faith never ever wavered one time, he trusted in God in that all of His promises are yea and amen! he did not have to work up His faith as we do, it was a nature within Him of real faith and belief in God and His Word. So when one truly repents of the root of sin within the heart which is unbelief, then it is laid upon the altars and God will receive your sacrifice for your repentance as he gives you His sacrifice for Sins which was the Nature of His Son which is a nature of Faith and Hope and love and Belief! This is why the old nature of unbelief is dead and now you truly a new creature in Christ. You have "Put on The Lord Jesus Christ". Where unbelief separated you from God by you being alienated in another mind, you have now obeyed the scriptures that told you to let this mind be in you that was in Christ Jesus, you have the Mind of Christ. "1 John 5:18 We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not".
Now we see in Romans 3:20 Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin. 21 But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; 22 Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference! Did you hear what He said? By the Law is the knowledge of sin but you can have the Righteousness of Jesus Christ how? By Faith of Jesus Christ! See He takes your unbelief and He gives you His Faith! The Faith of Jesus Christ is The Kingdom of God!
Romans 3:26 To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus. 27 Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith. 28 Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.
Romans 4:15 Because the law worketh wrath: for where no law is, there is no transgression. 16 Therefore it is of faith....
See if there is no Law, then there is nothing to transgress and if there is nothing to transgress, then there is no Sin, and if no Sin, then the death has lost its sting and if death has lost its sting, the Grave where is thy victory! Do you see what God is telling you here in plain sight!
If there is no Law then Satan has no more power over you so The Accuser of the brethren is cast down! Paul said in Romans 5:13 (For until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law). Now this verse itself screams this age of Grace we are in!
See it is a nature, that you die to, and once you are dead, then you can be reborn, "born again" but this time it is not a birth of the same spiritual nature of unbelief, but it is one of The Faith of Jesus Christ! If really heard what I was saying here, Sin is NOT a Deed, an act, or a do or don't kinda thing. It is an inward nature of unbelief. There is Scripture in the New Testament that states that once you have been reborn, you no longer sin. This makes sense, because once you have been reborn, you Walk in the Footsteps of Yeshua. Yeshua doesn't sin. If you should deliberately step out of line, you would be attempting to Crucify Yeshua a second time. That is not allowed and you would not be able to come back into the "fold". Look at Hebrews for starters.
Finally, a believer! LOL Thank You! it is a profound truth that a true born again Christian cannot and is impossible for them to ever sin again! For that nature is dead and now a new nature which is the nature of Christ is within, so a child is known by its doings! When you do righteously or when you do wickedly reveals the nature. I can 'see' what you're saying here, but if we were to look at it from the perspective that Christians can live a sinless life (never do anything contrary to righteousness), that in itself is missing the message. In other words, the 'lawless one' is ant-christ; in that sense, he rejects God's law altogether and breaks it without conscience.
I have to ask, is the Truth in us BEFORE we are born again or after? I have to say, AFTER. And, if this is a fact, what have we to say of 1 John 1:8? "If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us."
Romans 7:15-8:1 tells us we will continue to DO things contrary to the Spirit, for we are but flesh. However, it is not the spirit man who sins, but the flesh. To have conviction of sin when committed, is to agree that the Law of Christ is good (our spirit man). We will wrestle, flesh and Spirit, until that Day when we are resurrected in incorruptible bodies.
I praise God for His grace, in that the blood of Jesus covers our sin because we put our faith in His holiness, and for that we are made holy. Righteousness is imputed to us, as it was to Abraham. We are Abraham's offspring. God bless ~ and welcome to HubPages.

The same writer is the one who said we cannot sin. But you are right, I am talking about the spirit man, the inward man. Once we are born again we are not flesh, for they that are born of the spirit, they are spirit and no longer flesh. Great comment! : )

See though it is not my statements to this extent, read and reread the scriptures I placed there. it is them telling you this, the Word of God is saying this, not me! The inward you cannot sin anymore for if Christ be in you then can Christ sin? Also one has used the statement, and a very good one as well, that our flesh still sins, or something along that line, but see that is not altogether true as well, for the Bible says also that when you are born again that you are to reckon that outer you, that flesh to be dead unto God. So can a dead man out in the grave sin? No, He is not under any laws anymore for He is dead and you are to reckon yourself dead as well. So my flesh is dead by the body of Jesus Christ crucified at Calvary, and my inward man is Christ living and no longer I. So again How can a Christian Sin when there is no more Law to transgress? Now one would say, tis is not a license to go and do wrong and I agree, for my nature is not to do wrong anymore. But if I say I am born again and I willingly go on and continue in wrong doing and there is not a change in my nature then I have but deceived myself and was never truly born again to begin with. Here is a question for you to contemplate...
When did the Law go away? When did Yeshua not live under the Law? Scripture states that He did not come to do away with the Law, but to Fulfill it. So, rather than believing that the Law went away, the more accurate translation would be that we chose to abide by the Law by Following Yeshua. Just by Following, we Fulfill the Law. God's Blessings!
This is taken out of context. What He is saying if you read the whole chapter is that We must realise we are a sinner to see the need for a Savior! He is speaking to us based upon our first birth. The same writer also says later on in the same book that We as a Christian absolutely cannot Sin! Read that if you will!
It was folded up and laid away by Jesus fulfilling it. The curse of the Law was taken away that we might receive the blessing and righteousness of the Law which was and is through Christ Jesus.
Few are really born again. It is only by Heart and Great Faith that one can be born again. And yes, once you are born again, the evil side just died away and there is no need for it again, ever. 4. Requires obedience of the heart. Ps 51:6; Mt 5:28; 22:37.

6. Love is the fulfilling of. Ro 13:8,10; Ga 3:10; Jas 2:10.
7. It is man’s duty to keep. Ec 12:13.

Well bro I had a whole slew of scriptures for you in a comment but my computer froze and I lost them all. So I take that as a sign that maybe you are not ready for this liberating experience in God. The time for the "Rapture" is come. and the Saints are catching a new revelation that by faith as Enoch will cause them to bypass the Grave altogether. I dare you to read the AKJV Bible the whole book of Romans and the Book of 1st John and every time it says the word Law, and Sin, underline them or write that verse down and take just those verses and you tell me what they say. Paul had a revelation, John had a revelation and they hid it very well in these writings. I challenge you to do as I have asked. Do not just read over it, but take that verse that you will read and take it alone for what it says, than ask yourself if it be true how does that fit with what you believe. This is true! But you are talking about a person who is NOT Born Again. If Christ is in my heart since I have been Born Again, then it is impossible for my heart to be wicked. The Prov. 14:12 is referring to the Law, that no man can be made perfect by the works of the law, it is a trail and raod to death.

God is always speaking to His children and tells us great and mighty mysteries that men know not. it is His delight to speak to us and to see our hearts shine with His Love. He dwells within us and is closer than a brother, so why would it seem strange to anyone that if God loved us enough to die for us and come and live within our heart, that He would not talk to us as well? He is truly a loving Father.

I believe with all my heart the Word of God. Salvation is not hard in the sense you have to really work hard for years to find it, it is hard in that most people refuse to give up their own self and let it die to be born again. Salvation is very simple and easy, it is the easiest thing to do in all of the Christian Life. But as I have said, The few who find it found it because they could not and would not live another moment without it. it is not a religion my friend. it is a Nature within ones self, it is a way of life caused by a new nature and that nature is Christ inside.
I think we all sin. There is none righteous, not even one. The process to holiness takes a long time, and it's a daily fight. That's why Paul in the New Testament said he continually struggled with obeying God and doing what his flesh wanted him to do.
Interesting Heated debate... lol... I bet I turn some heads when I say that Jesus is the Lamb who TOOK away the sins of the ENTIRE WORLD!!! It is impossible for ANYONE to sin because Jesus has finished the work!!! God's Spirit was poured out on ALL flesh in the Last Days!!! It is all a matter of perspective... and of course we ALL think we are reading the Bible and that everyone else is mistranslating the Good Book, but just because someone reads it differently than you do doesn't make them "nuttier than a fruitcake"!!! I find it very amusing that those who quote the "narrow gate" passage always think they have found it!!! lol... Which ironically is a LOT of people!!! Many try to "live up to" the "standards" found in the Bible, specifically the Law... Many try and ALL FAIL!!! Understanding that Christ did it ALL for you and the conflict was over 2000 years ago is the key to peace and joy and happiness and abundant life!!! There is neither Jew nor Greek anymore!!! The conflict is over!!! The only remnants of it are in our heads and in time, the Gospel will reveal itself to us ALL and our mental freedom will line up with the actual freedom that Christ purchased for us!!!

Amen Steve, it is called "Grace". I love the "simplicity" of the Gospel. It is truly a narrow way and few that find it. My journey has always been a search for God, but to my utter amazement in the end it was Him that found me! many are called as to the search is whosoever will, but the Chosen is something God does and those whom are His Elect they are called and Chosen. How could you possibly have read the very scriptures I posted and still sit back and say we all sin? Oh Steve remember this as well. A pardon is not a pardon unless it is received. One must accept this atonement for it to be made effective. This is why FAITH is so important. I know you know all this already but for others sake, it also means that if Jesus died for everyone then no one would die and go to hell, but we see there are still wicked people in the world. Plus we see in the end time there will be many who number themselves with Satan and accept the mark. But even though Christ did die for all there still be "few" who accept this. is that not amazing! You go tell this heap of dung to a man whose precious wife and daughter was raped and brutally mutilated, or talk to the families of those who lost loved ones on 9/11 that Bin Laden is in heaven. This separation is symbolic!!! We are ALL God's children!!! The OT often speaks of the Messiah and how He would separate US from our SINS!!! We are ALL God's GOOD CREATION and yet we ALL FALL SHORT!!! But Jesus separated us from our sins!!! When He died, ALL died... and when He was given NEW LIFE at His resurrection, WE were ALL given New Life!!! But I understand why you would be upset at my saying that... Why did Jesus and John say that "They were of their Father the Devil"? Why is Cain NOT mentioned in the genealogy of The Lord Jesus? What do you do with the Lake of Fire and Eternal Damnation spoken in Revelations?
Jesus returns and slays the PEOPLE till the blood runs to the horses bridle, if they are all His Children why would He slay them?
"Hell" is a very harsh place for people to understand that they are not their Body,but spirit.I do not really believe in Eternal Damnation. I simply don't believe in eternal damnation, maybe it gonna take Very long, but not eternal.
Also, the only reason God will place you in "Hell" is because God will grant you everything you want, including "Hell". This is a Law but most people do not understand. Your Habitual thinking will lead you to where you are going next, Heaven or Hell. That's why your deeds, your words, your thinking matters!
The revelations is one of the most problematic chapter. It seems that Paul that wrote Revelations is not Paul the Apostle. So the authenticity should be double checked. There are many reference that the things said are about to happen. Yet, More than 1000 years had past, we are still to reach Judgement day.
As for Steve, there are creatures beneath, hidden in the Earth Crust that is more evil than you think. They are referred to a few times throughout the Bible, but left no details of them. I think the Children of Satan must refer to them and other people who are bent towards Evil, even when they already knew the Truth.
I guess Jesus is going to slay them.
As for your saying that All people are safe, I do not think so. I believe Jesus Opened the Way back to Heaven. And that all people are entitled to go there. They Are given a chance to go back to heaven.
But only very few realized the Truth. That the only way back is Your Faith on Jesus Christ and that through him, Death is conquered. And you are born again.
Most think that just be confessing and going to church every Sunday will entitle you a "Good Student" or "Good servant" award and that this award will definitely land you in Heaven. This is a lie fabricated by the Church. Although confessing and acknowledging Jesus Christ is the First step, faith in Him to overcome Death is the key.

Interesting read. I wouldn't say it's impossible for a Christian to sin, as much as we try to live a pure life, we are but FLESH.
Moses, honoured God but because he smote the rock in anger (due to the complaints of the Israelites) he did not see the promised land.
David - a man after Gods heart. Loved God so much, but still went into Bathsheba.
However, the more we walk in obedience to God, the more He blesses and Favours. If Christian's sin, they can repent (Ps 51) and God will forgive (1 Jn 1:9).
